OW2 announces the availability of the ReachOut platform designed for open source research projects to manage successful beta-testing campaigns

EU-funded research projects can start registering their open source software on the ReachOut platform to engage with early users and to find contributors on their markets.

Paris, December 10,  2019 – OW2, the global community for open source infrastructure software announces the availability of the ReachOut beta-testing platform for research projects to run a successful beta-testing campaign using a proven method, a dedicated dashboard and best practices.

ReachOut is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) funded by the European Commission, coordinated by Fraunhofer FOKUS – the largest organization for applied research in Europe, along with UshareSoft and OW2.

ReachOut acts as an operational intermediary between new open source software and early users. It helps research projects to implement their beta testing campaigns through proper software packages. A customized questionnaire also contributes to collect user experience and more  feedbacks from beta testers.

The Reachout platform addresses two main needs :
    • the necessity in a software development lifecycle to reach out with external end-users to get feedback on the features offered, and to decide about those to improve and the next to code.
    • the engagement for EU-funded projects to disseminate continuously about their outcomes and to raise exploitation opportunities,  while creating a community of developers and contributors.

The ReachOut Platform is visible at Paris Open Source Summit (December 10-11), with a presentation on Dec. 11 and live demonstrations proposed on OW2 booth (#D21).
